October is TU's Make-a-Difference

Dakota TU completed two conservation projects.  We

participated in the SD GFP's Adopt-A-Lake program and

the Big Sioux River Greenway Cleanup.

Dakota TU adopted Lake Vermillion and did a clean up of

the East and West boat ramps plus the spillway and damn

areas on Saturday October 3, 2020.

The Big Sioux River Greenway Cleanup event was

on Saturday October 10, 2020

We picked up trash along a 2.5 mile stretch of Skunk

Creek and the Big Sioux

River from Dunham Park to 49th Street.

Job Well done!  Thank you to all the members who

Make Plans to Join-in next year!

Great News!  We received a donation of 10 awesome

Quest Fly Rod outfits from

L.L.Bean to support our chapter's Youth/Veterans fishing

and casting events and our other great programs!  Each

year we use these donated fly rods to connect more

people to fishing with the hope that they, too, will come to

care as much about conserving our local rivers as

possible.  Join us at our next event or meeting to make a

difference and be part of the fun!  #LLBeanTU

Dakota Trout Unlimited has formed a partnership with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.  Project Healing Waters is a national organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of our nation's disabled veterans and active duty service personnel through involvement in fishing related activities.  Some of these activities include fly tying, rod building, casting and fishing instruction and fishing outings.

Project Healing Waters needs volunteers to assist the participants with the various activities.  More importantly, we need more VETERANS to participate.  Please help us spread the word!

The Sioux Falls area PHWFF chapter normally meets on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month from 5:00-6:30 PM at the Sioux Falls Outdoor Campus.  If you would like to become involved as a volunteer or know of a veteran who might benefit from becoming involved as a participant, please contact Nick Bentele by email at nsbentele@fnbsf.com or by phone at 605-201-1602 .
